Google honours Madam Noor Jehan's 91st birthday with a doodle

Madam Noor Jehan would've turned 91 today.

In honour of the legendary singer Google dedicated a doodle in her honour. The doodle features Noor Jehan's likeness, heavily resembling her Dildar Sadqay Lakh Waar Sadqay performance on PTV.

And everyone's talking about it.




Madam Noor Jehan is an iconic figure in Pakistani history. Born as Allah Wasai on September 21, 1926 in Kasur, Noor Jehan started her musical career from Calcutta at the age of nine as a talented child star.

She was renowned as one of the greatest and most influential singers of her time in South Asia and was given the honorific title of Malika-e-Tarannum.

She recorded about 10,000 songs in various languages of India and Pakistan including Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Sindhi. Noor Jehan died on December 23, 2000 in Karachi.

The Citizens Archive of Pakistan curated a special Google Cultural Exhibition on the 91st anniversary of the legendary singer Noor Jehan. The exhibit was curated using unique images acquired from her family’s private collection and interviews with people whose lives she touched.
