Is Atiqa Odho going back to school for her next telefilm?
Atiqa Odho's upcoming Eid telefilm will see her in the role of Principal Nadra, a slightly overbearing woman who doesn't seem to know where her reign of control ends!
In the film, Nadra insists on not only calling the shots at college but also at home... but we can't totally blame her.
Director Kamran Akbar Khan says, "While Principal Nadra is well-educated, her family doesn't behave like it! They fall prey to superstitions, fearing black cats and broken mirrors. This really annoys her."
The film will feature a love triangle. Nadra's son (Shehzad Sheikh) wants to marry his girlfriend who's flunking at the same college his mother runs (yikes!). Principal Nadra obviously disapproves of his choice and has her eyes set on another young woman who's been educated abroad.
"But she'll come around," promises director Kamran.
"What i'm really excited about is that there are a lot of roles being written for actors of my age and my stage of career," says Atiqa Odho
The telefilm went on the floors this week and will be a short four-day shoot, Atiqa Odho revealed to Images.
Talking about her role, Atiqa says her role is very interesting.
"What i'm really excited about is that there are a lot of roles being written for actors of my age and my stage of career. [TV dramas are no longer] all about love and romance. There's a lot of characters written now, who are central characters for all kinds of socioeconomic backgrounds, all kinds of ages... so television dramas have definitely started to mature."
Principal Nadra will release on Eid ul Azha.
