Is Kaabil going to become the first Hindi movie to get a Hollywood remake?

While Bollywood has always come under fire for taking too much inspiration from Hollywood, in a turn of events, it seems like Kaabil might just become the first Hindi movie to get an official remake in Tinseltown!

According to Indian Express, Sanjay Gupta's Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer has allegedly gotten attention from Hollywood studio, 20th Century Fox.

Talking about the latest development, Kaabil director Sanjay Gupta told Mid-day, “It’s true that Fox, through Tomas Jegeus has approached Hrithik. Even though the developments are too premature to talk about at this moment, it's an honour for the team. What is also exciting is that Kaabil has been declared the best film of (the first half of) 2017 via an online poll. So, it’s a double win for us.”

The action flick had been produced by Hrithik's filmmaker-father, Rakesh Roshan. Coincidentally, the actor also headlined Bang Bang (2014), the official Bollywood adaptation of the Hollywood studio's film, Knight And Day. (2010).

Ironically, when Kaabil was released, critics pointed out that Gupta had drawn inspiration from Hollywood’s Blind Fury (1989) with Rutger Hauer in the lead and even borrowing from Korean super hit film, Broken (2014),

When Mid-day contacted Rakesh, he seemed excited to explore the opportunity: "The screenplay was hard-hitting, and the drama, gripping. It would make for a wonderful Hollywood adaptation, given that it has all the necessary emotions. It struck gold at the box-office because it was about a visually-impaired lover seeking revenge."
