Zoe Viccaji, Qawalistan represent Pakistan at SXSW festival

After a well-received music showcase at last year's South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival, Pakistani artists have been roped in for its 2017 edition as well.

Zoe Viccaji and Qawalistan are representing Pakistan at the nine-day long festival which kickstarted on March 10 in Austin, Texas.

Zoe performed at the fest on Wednesday, March 15 whereas Qawalistan will be performing twice at different venues, with their next performance scheduled for Friday, March 17.

Qawalistan brings together a blend of traditional Qawali and western rock and roll music. On the other hand, Zoe's style is influenced by pop, disco, reggae and funk.

SXSW is an annual set of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences; its music component is said to accommodate one of the largest music festivals in the world.

The line-up from Pakistan last year included Imran Aziz Mian Qawwal (who is part of Qawalistan), Mai Nimani, Wahid Allan Faqir and Overload.
