This musician will play Mahira Khan's co-star in Shoaib Mansoor's next film 'Verna'
Wow, singer Haroon Shahid (of Symt and Coke Studio fame) has caught a lucky break!
The 'Baliye (Laung Gawacha)' singer has been cast opposite Mahira Khan in the upcoming Shoaib Mansoor movie, Verna.
In conversation with Images, Haroon revealed how he bagged the role.
"You can't approach Shoaib Mansoor. Shoaib Mansoor always approaches you," said Haroon. "I was just asked by Shoaib sahab to come and audition [for the role]."
Does his casting have to do with his musical talent? Looks like it.
"I sing a song with Zeb Bangash for the film," Haroon reveals, adding that there are 5 to 6 songs on the film's soundtrack. "Soch has contributed a few songs, as have some other artists. But the best part for me was that I had the opportunity of working with Shoaib sahab on the composition of a couple of songs in the film."
Haroon may be nervous about his debut acting project but he has faith in his director.
"I'm excited, but more than that I'm actually nervous. Let's see what response I get. We can only hope for the best. But the script is pretty strong and I have full faith in Shoaib Mansoor directing yet another blockbuster."
Behadd actor Nadia Jamil was also approached for a role in the film, but she backed out due to personal commitments.
Verna is a drama film with a strong women's empowerment angle. "This film is being made by a man of Pakistan, to urge the men of the world to listen to women," said Shoaib Mansoor at the time of the film's announcement. The film is expected to release on Eid ul Fitr this year.
