3 Pakistani films to screen at Jaipur Film Festival
In October, Pakistani classic Jago Hua Savera (1959) was dropped from Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival over protests and a police complaint against the organisers. In a pleasant turn of events this month, Jaipur Film Festival will be showcasing works of three Pakistani filmmakers.
As the tug of war between India and Pakistan on the culture-front tapers, Jaipur Film Festival announced that films of three Pakistani filmmakers will be screened at the Indian film festival.
The films include Anjum Shehzad's MaheMir, a drama film inspired by Mir Taqi Mir that stars Fahad Mustafa and Iman Ali.
Also representing Pakistan are films Hellhole, Mobeen Ansari's documentary short on conservancy workers in Pakistan and Little Red Roses, Asim Abbasi's short film about a young girl who dresses up as a boy to sell roses on the streets of Karachi.
The Jaipur Film Festival will run in Jaipur from January 7-11, 2017.
