PEMRA issues notice to Urdu1 for indecent scenes in Ye Hain Mohabbatein

PEMRA has issued a notice to Urdu1 for indecent scenes in one of the shows it broadcasts, Ye Hain Mohabbatein.

The show is a Balaji Telefilms production that was originally broadcast on Star Plus. The serial revolves around a man named Raman Bhalla who divorces his wife Shagun after he discovers her affair with his boss. The drama follows the ups and downs of the love lives of these central characters.

In the most recent episode, broadcast on June 1, the characters are shown engaged in acts of intimacy, which is in violation of the Electronic Media Ordinance 2015. PEMRA has thus served the below notice to the channel Urdu 1.

The PEMRA notice to Urdu1

According to the notice, PEMRA received complaints about the show on its Twitter handle @reportpemra and call centre; the complaints said that the scenes were too inappropriate to watch with one's family.

The notice further said that PEMRA had given a warning to Urdu1 for the broadcast of similarly indecent content when it aired the show Aashiana Meri Mohabbat in 2015.

Urdu1 has till June 18 to respond to PEMRA's notice.
