I was 15 years old when Kareena made her debut, recalls Arjun Kapoor

Every other film features a couple, but in R. Balki's Ki and Ka, the spotlight is on the leads' marriage. Maybe that's why Arjun Kapoor was adamant in getting it right.

In an interview with IANS, Arjun revealed that his friendship with Kareena Kapoor made it easier to realistically portray a married couple:

“You need an actor whom you are very comfortable with because the marriage should look real on screen. Already, the concept is so bizarre, so you need to show that compatibility,” he added.

The "bizarre concept" Arjun refers to is the reversed dynamic of his 'marriage' with Kareena: In Ki and Ka, Arjun is the stay-at-home husband, while Kareena’s character Kia is the ambitious moneymaker of the family.

"Hindi is a language where not only humans, but even various objects have genders. This film is about the fact. In Ki And Ka genders don't matter," Balki said in an earlier statement.

It's unclear whether Kareena - the older of the two in real life - will play an older woman in the film.

Actor Arjun Kapoor remembers that he was 15 years old when the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actress made her film debut in Refugee in 2000.

“I was 15 years old when Kareena made her debut and I was in 10th standard. I had met her before her debut so I knew her and she has not changed since then. I still make fun of her like I used to make fun of her before,” Arjun said.

“She is a phenomenal actor to work with, and to stand in front of her in a same screen is amazing because she is fantastic. She gives her 200 percent and she can switch on and off,” he added.

The romantic comedy is slated to hit the screens on April 1.
