Sonam Kapoor refuses to go to Hollywood as the "hot exotic Indian girl"

Sonam Kapoor has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind. While Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are off making their respective Hollywood films, Kapoor is in no rush to make it big there just yet.

"I would like to take my projects to the West but I do not want to be the hot Indian girl there; I have worked very hard here to not to be this exotic Indian girl. I've worked very hard to the point where I could get to do a film like Neerja and be taken seriously," shared the Dolly Ki Doli actress in a recent interview with DNA.

"I do not want to start all over again. If I can get something with a lot of gravity, I would definitely want to do it. I would approach them myself. If it’s a great role, why not? But only if it has something right and that attracts me."

Anil Kapoor recently said, "she [Sonam] still has to improve more and more" and it looks like she agrees!

The 30-year-old diva reveals: “For me, conquering the world is not important. For me conquering and honing my craft is more important. It doesn’t matter what language I get to work in, as long as I get to explore something about myself and explore a character that I want to do. I will make a decision based on the fact that there’s something that I can do in it.”

"I want a strong, amazing character. Films like Neerja have a lot of potential of crossing over. Look at how well The Lunchbox and Masaan were received. They crossed international barriers.”

Currently, the actress is riding high on the wave of success as her domestic project, Neerja has raked in over INR 35 crore.
