A 3 Idiots sequel? It could happen

Did you love the 3 Idiots trio? There's more where that came from.

At the 10-year celebration of Rang De Basanti in Mumbai, Aamir Khan hinted that a sequel to the Rajkumar Hirani-directed film may be in the works.

3 Idiots (2009) saw Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi as three friends who navigate through various personal trials in the course of getting their college engineering degree. 3 Idiots was the trio's second film together after Rang De Basanti, and there's scope for a third, according to Aamir Khan.

"I hope to make a hattrick of films with Madhavan and Sharman after RDB and 3 Idiots. Raju Hirani has told me that he has an idea for 3 idiots sequel. So let's hope for the best," PinkVilla quoted him as saying.

The original comedy-drama film was loosely based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone, so it remains to be seen whether the sequel will have an original screenplay.

According to Aamir, “Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) sometime ago mentioned that he has found a story for 3 Idiots (sequel), so maybe we will reunite soon."

"Don’t make it as a breaking news,” he also cautioned, reported Indian Express.

Director Hirani has also previously said that the sequel "will take some time".
