Thought you were following Fawad Khan on Instagram? You were wrong!

Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan quietly joined social media platform Instagram today, but the lack of fanfare hasn't kept fans at bay.

Nearly 20k fans have clicked 'Follow' since the Khoobsurat actor uploaded his first post 7 hours ago.

Fans were equal parts intrigued and horrified by the rather ominous picture of his shaver-clutching fist:

While some gushed about his arrival on Instagram, others found other reasons to be happy. One commenter, who assumed Fawad was going for a bald look, said: "So glad ur doing this cuz my wife won't crush on u when ur shaved!" However, one fan had a three-phase breakdown. "HES SHAVING HIS HEAD," she exclaimed. "IF HE PULLS A ZAYN ON US OMG IM GONNA CRY," she wailed. Her coherence sharply decreased: "HE BETTER NOT OMG THIS WAS 6 HOURS AGO ALL FOR A BLOODY MOVIE ARE U [ALL] RIGHT FAWAD."

Fawad soon followed it up with a more standard post — a BTS pic from the promotions of his upcoming Bollywood flick, Kapoor and Sons.

Fans have so far been getting their Fawad Khan fix from a fan-managed account on Instagram, which boasted speedy uploads of many of Fawad's private moments. Fawad's PR reps say they have no knowledge of who runs this account and that the pictures were sourced from the Internet. The administrators of the account got their hands on everything from his recent birthday dinner with wife Sadaf to downtime photos while he was on shoot, so we're not quite sure what to believe, though!

The fan account swelled with enough followers (481k, nearly twice of the 287k on Mahira Khan's official account) to make it appear quite authentic and make one neglect the absence of the coveted blue tick.
