Spotify Audiobooks finally available to Pakistani users
After years of waiting, Pakistani Spotify users are finally going to have access to a limited library of audiobooks on the streaming platform.
Spotify rolled out the new feature this week, offering over 100,000 titles from its global English catalogue to both free and premium users with Audiobooks+. You can search, browse and explore the catalog of available titles on the Audiobooks tab in your Spotify app.
The catch? You’ll have to purchase a monthly allowance of 15 audiobook hours as an add-on subscription of Rs489. If you burn through them faster than expected, you can get an additional 10-hour top-up for Rs579 more, according to a press release shared by Spotify.
But only time you spend actively listening will count towards your monthly allowance, which resets with each billing cycle.
And if you want to own an audiobook rather than renting it out on your monthly subscription, Spotify also allows you to purchase individual titles.
Some of the features offered to Pakistani users include automatic bookmarking, a sleep timer, a Page Match feature that lets you switch between a print book or e-book and its audio counterpart to pick up where you left off, the ability to download and listen to audiobooks offline, and syncing of your reading progress across devices.
The launch of the new feature comes as part of Spotify’s plan for global expansion of Audiobooks. The streaming platform aims to reach 180 markets worldwide with this feature, providing over 780 million people access to stream or purchase audiobooks on its platform.
