Actor Bushra Ansari has revealed she is making her return to the silver screen soon, with Fahad Mustafa set to be part of her next film project.

Speaking at the launch of Rabia Anum’s new salon in Karachi, Ansari said she had been busy with engagements abroad but was now back in Pakistan and looking forward to working on three projects: two drama serials and a film.

The actor said she was due to start shooting for “Fahad [Mustafa]’s film” in December. She also said that while the cast has not been finalised, she knows that comedian Sohail Ahmed — better known by his stage name Azizi — will be part of the project.

“The serials,” she said, “one will start shooting in October, the other in November. I will be staying here now.”

The actor confirmed these would be her first projects after she starred in the drama Shaidai earlier this year.

When asked about her vocal positions on social issues and whether she gets trolled over the internet for them, Ansari said, “Actually, I think I speak about relevant things mostly, the mishappenings [in society].”

She recalled speaking out about the Mir Raza and Mustafa Amir cases, saying, “When these things get suffocating, I say something and I don’t think I say anything that would hurt somebody… I don’t get trolled.”

The actor condemned the way fashion designer Parishae Adnan was treated on a TV show hosted by Nadia Khan last week. She said, “It wasn’t right, the girl is very talented, the focus should have been on her achievement.”

Adnan, who recently closed a show held during New York Fashion Week with her Second Skin collection, was grilled by the host over the clothes she wears to the gym and how her parents were okay with her choices.

Ansari said the designer was “unique” in her work and in her style, and that was her personal matter. The actor said Khan was like a daughter to her and she can say these things to her whenever they see each other.

Ansari said Khan was trolled on the internet for the show, “which should be limited”. She said people sometimes say things in the flow of conversation and there had to be a limit to what trolls can do.

Another bone she had to pick was with online ‘critics’. “Everyone has become a critic, whether they know dramas or not, whether they are from the field or not, anyone with two mics can start a podcast and he criticises everyone.

“Anyone can say anything about anybody,” she said.
