'His heart still belongs to her': Mitti De Baway's third teaser exposes Baala's tangled love life
Any good fictional character has skeletons in their closet and the two leads of Green Entertainment’s upcoming drama Mitti De Baway are no different.
The third teaser hints that Billo (Mahira Khan) and Baala (Wahaj Ali) loved each other once, went their separate ways, and are only now finding their way back to each other.
In one of the scenes, Billo tells Baala to stay away from her if he wants to stay alive because, “Siyane kehte hain, jo do mard kha jaye, teesra bhi nhi chhorti. (The wise say a woman who devours two men doesn’t hesitate to devour a third.)” This is followed by two flashbacks with Khan dressed in different wedding outfits.
Baala also sees flashbacks from his youth, but in his present is an unknown woman (Amar Khan) asking: “What does she have that I don’t?” The domestic setting in which she poses this question implies that she may be his wife, alongside a third, younger woman (Hina Afridi).
He is still hung up over Billo, however, as Amar Khan tells Hina Afridi: “All you got in your share was tin — his heart still belongs to her.”
This is also evident in a subsequent scene where Baala tenderly holds Billo’s face and tells her, “Now the story’s just yours and mine, Billo. Far and wide, it’s just you and me.”
When scenes weren’t about Billo and Baala’s love lives, Baala is shown as a feared and particularly heartless thug, getting another inmate to massage his legs in prison and gravely injuring someone outside. It’s a far cry from the earnest lover of the flashbacks — and adds to the gun-slinging, feared hoodlum persona Baala has cut across the earlier teasers too.
Before you ask, we have no idea when the show is set to come out, the channel keeps saying it’s “coming soon”.
The show is written by Faiza Iftikhar, directed by Syed Iftikhar Hussain and produced by Tehreem Chaudhary.
