TV host and actor Sahir Lodhi booked in Karachi over bounced cheques
The Karachi police registered an FIR against TV host and actor Sahir Lodhi in a case of bounced cheques on the directions of a court, it emerged on Tuesday.
Shah Latif Town Police SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi told Images that Naghma Gul, said to be a business partner of the host, approached the court over eight to nine bounced cheques. He said the police, in compliance with the court order, have registered an FIR against Lodhi under Section 489-F (dishonestly issuing a cheque that gets bounced) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. No one has been arrested, he said.
According to the FIR, the complainant said she is a widow and resident of Landhi. On the suggestion of someone she knew, she gave Rs4 million to Lodhi for investment purposes.
She said Lodhi once gave her profits of Rs250,000 and Rs400,000 on that investment.
The complainant claimed Lodhi gave her eight other cheques at different times, all of which bounced due to lack of funds in his account. She approached the district judge in Malir to initiate legal proceedings against the host.
