Trump said the US is at war with the Islamic Republic of Japan and the internet is having a field day
US President Donald Trump was at the sidelines of a meeting of some of America’s most critical military allies when he mentioned a previously unheard of threat to the United States — the Islamic Republic of Japan.
At the Nato summit in Ankara, Trump claimed the Islamic Republic of Japan was responsible for launching over 111 missiles at US vessels in recent days.
With their cover blown by Trump’s baffling remarks and their country apparently at war with a global superpower again after an attack on US boats, Japanese people — and others on X — have finally started to open up about what it’s like living in the ‘Islamic republic’.
Cultural insights into the Islamic republic were also shared, especially its animation industry which produces content — which some commentators are calling Hala-nime — to instil moral values in children.
Some users shared what they believe will be updates from the US president on the situation.
People on both sides were calling on their governments to act.
One user said Japan had no need for nukes as they had another nuclear-fuelled super-weapon.
And if any of this caught you by surprise, know that you’re not alone.
With markets tumbling and oil prices rising as war drums, the world waits to see how this conflict will play out.
