Moroccan-American rapper French Montana is engaged to Sheikha Mahra Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum, the daughter of Dubai’s ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, his representatives have confirmed.

TMZ broke the news on Wednesday, and said the couple got engaged during Paris Fashion Week in June, shortly after Montana made his runway debut, according to his representative.

You may remember Sheikha Mahra for infamously announcing her divorce to her then-husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, through an Instagram post in July 2024. The post featured a note addressed to her “dear husband” and concluded with, “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you”. She shares a daughter with her ex-husband.

Shortly after, she launched a line of pricey perfumes called Divorce.

She and Montana, whose real name is Karim Kharbouch, were first linked in October 2024, when photos were shared of her showing him around Dubai. They reportedly went public with their romance this summer, when, according to Entertainment Today, they stepped out at several Paris Fashion Week events holding hands.

TMZ reported that the wedding date is still being decided upon but both families are excited about the development.

U.S. based TMZ is in full action reporting news like this not covered by the mainstream media networks.

This is kind of shocking. Would never have imagined those two together. Clearly her standard in husbands is sub standard. She should probably get him checked and tested properly before anything.

The divorce is not even valid under the Islamic laws.

@LAILA, You missing her ultimate aim. To move to the US., which she could, if she married Montana - a US citizen and Rapper, of Morrocon origins. Remember, she had and her sisters had clandestinely traveled outside of Dubai, via India and Thailand to escape from their father few years ago. They were aiming to move to the West or Australia, but her father forced the authorities to capture them and bring them both back to Dubai. Also, remember, the ex-wife of the Ruler of Dubai, Princes Haya bint Hussain, daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan, sought asylum in the UK few years ago with her kids to reside permanently in the UK - not even in her native Jordan. The Ruler was made to pay her hefty alimony and maintenance by the British divorce court. Tells you something about life in the Royal Palaces of Dubai. Something is clearly not right under that facade of glitz and glamour of Dubai.

@Mahmood True. I think it was just her immediate reaction. Letting out steam. Offline, behind closed doors, she probably asked for Khula or perhaps she already had Talaq e Tawfid stipulated in her nikah/marriage contract.

When will elitism die in Pakistan? Her standard in husbands is sub standard? Really? Is there a standards book on husbands?

@M. Malik, Thata an interesting view. I just thought, it would be fairly easy for those royalties with their longstanding connections to the US governments and elite to easily obtain dual nationality? Of all people, French Montana I agree with youbut Princess Latifa and Princess Shamsa are Princess Mahra's half sisters. Their father has married multiple times and has many children. Shamsa and Latifa fled, because they were in danger from there own father, the ruler of Dubai, who they accused of abusing them. Since they were unlawfully captured by his people, and being out under house arrest, nobody has heard from them. We re talking about two grown women in the late 30s being deprived of basic right to live free and decide their own lives. They are captives. The very few photo ops have been controlled and staged to appease public scrutiny. The misogyny and patriarchy are alive and well in the UAE too. His last wife, Princess Haya of Jordan, stood by when his adult daughters were being chased and forcibly returned to live in captivity in the UAE. However at some point it dawned on her that her own daughter (under age) could be in danger. So she fled UAE with her children and initiated divorce in the UK and got protective orders for her daughter after it was proven in court that the sheikh had her stalked, surveillanced and her phone tapped. She got a huge settlement. Had she she stayed in the UAE, she would have lost custody of both kids and her daughter could have been married off in a forced marriage. In Jordan her brother may have feel pressured to return her to her husband. She is a clever woman. It's also noteworthy that while Shamsa and Latifa are living caged in captivity, their half sister is out there enjoying life to the fullest and beyond patriarchal limits. You could be right, she is trying to secure her future too. All this is documented and widely published by mainstream media. So yes, everything is not gold and glitter. It's just the surface. Appearances can be deceiving.

@Mehtab Khan Well for starters I am not elitist. Or even close. Secondly, yes it perfectly natural for humans to have a standard/preference/taste/requirements for their spouse/partner. People tend to marry those they are compatible with, whether it's values, status, looks, beauty, wealth, ethnicity, culture etc. I am not aware of any "standards book on husbands" as every person has their own preferences. Men do too. They don't just up and marry any woman. Everybody has their standard. You should probably look up French Montana, view his lifestyle to understand my comment and and then tell me, if you would marry him, or let your daughter/sister marry him. He isn't even qualified by religious standards. Even in islam there is a standard. I will leave it to you study it yourself. So yes her taste in husbands is substandard. She could do better.

in the higher stratum of our society religion, values and social norms are entirely different. there is a major rift which needs to be understood otherwise taking holistic picture of our society will give a flawed view.

@ASMAT "Higher stratum"? The Rapper is hardly in that stratum, so the standards don't apply to him. The Princess and Emiratees/Saudis are just have the same values as their distant cousin Netanyahu. Enough said! They all hail from the lost tribes ...
