Gigi Hadid is getting candid about co-parenting her daughter Khai with ex-partner Zayn Malik.

In a new interview with Vogue, the supermodel opened up about what it’s really like to raise her four-year-old daughter with the former One Direction star.

“Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance,” Hadid revealed, emphasising that Khai remains at the centre of everything they plan. “I have no regrets, ever, being like, ‘I can’t make that job. I have Khai that week.’ That’s just the boundary I’ve set.”

While their schedules are carefully coordinated, Hadid said there’s flexibility when needed. “That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs.”

She described her and Malik’s co-parenting dynamic as one rooted in “love and a feeling of camaraderie,” acknowledging that their relationship — past and present — remains a topic of public scrutiny. “There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything,” she said.

“And at the end of the day, we’re not interested in giving everyone our whole story. What we are interested in is raising our daughter together — with so much respect for each other. And not just as co-parents, but what we’ve been through together.”

Hadid also spoke about the importance of community in raising Khai. Splitting her time between New York and Pennsylvania, the model shared how life away from the city has brought a different kind of comfort and security for her daughter. “Khai is protected by our friendships here. And that means a lot to me.”

Malik had previously spoken about their decision to raise Khai away from the spotlight. In a 2024 interview with L’Officiel, he said, “I’m just trying to keep her grounded and enjoying the Earth rather than all the noise that comes with it.”

Sharing his love for Pennsylvania’s “landscapes and serenity,” Malik revealed that he and Khai “spend a lot of time outside” together. “Hopefully we can create some amazing memories here,” he added.

Hadid and Malik, who were in an on-again, off-again relationship for six years, welcomed Khai in September 2020. The couple ultimately parted ways in 2021 following reports of an alleged altercation between Zayn and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda. The incident led to Malik pleading no contest to charges of harassment, despite publicly denying any physical contact.

Since their split, both Hadid and Malik have remained largely private about their dynamic as exes and co-parents.
