Love is in the air: 5 new shows to watch this Ramazan
As the month of Ramazan starts, so do several new shows on the silver screen. TV channels have announced their yearly Ramazan dramas, and this time around, most of them have a romantic undertone.
Confused about what to watch and where? We compiled a list of five new TV shows coming to you this Ramazan!
My Dear Cinderella
Who doesn’t love a modern spin on a classic fairytale? HUM TV’s My Dear Cinderella, however, isn’t your average Cinderella story. Sana, teasingly called Cinderella by her family, is a headstrong woman, all set to be married. On her nikkah day, a problem arises, leading her to abandon the ceremony.
However, this Cinderella doesn’t need a Prince Charming, she’s the glue holding her own family together while fulfilling her father’s dream. That is, until her Prince Charming stumbles into her life and she accidentally throws a bucket of water with chilli powder at his face.
My Dear Cinderella is the perfect lighthearted romcom to refresh your mood. The ensemble cast features Zara Peerzada and Khaqan Shahnawaz in the lead roles, alongside Zarrar Khan, Juggan Kazim, Tara Mahmood, Seemi Pasha and Adnan Shah Tipu.
Dil Wali Gali Mein
The iconic duo, Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail, are back with another romantic show, this time with a more comedic vibe. The pair dazzled audiences in Zard Patton Ka Bunn last year and have returned to HUM TV with Dil Wali Gali Mein.
The show follows Deeju (Aly) and Mujji (Sohail), who are college sweethearts desperate to get married but caught in a whirlwind of family rivalry. In the first episode, the two are ready for a court marriage, until fate decides otherwise. The show explores if their love can find a home amid the turbulence.
The cast also features Saba Faisal, Saqib Sameer, Uzma Hassan, Munazzah Arif, Maham Naz, Abid Ali, Adnan Ali, and Jannat Ul Firdous.
Aas Paas
If you’re looking for a slightly more serious show, but one still brimming with romance, Aas Paas is the show for you. Starring Ali Ansari and Laiba Khan in the lead roles, this romantic dramedy is a story of love, sacrifice and struggles within relationships.
The show follows Arshia (Laiba), a strong-willed young woman who is determined to reunite her family after her father abandons them. Soon, she crosses paths — read: gets into an accident with — Dr Saham (Ansari), a dedicated professional with his own burdens. As Geo, the show’s broadcaster, put it: “Bound by their selflessness, they embark on a journey where their devotion to family is tested, and their own happiness is put on the line. What challenges await Dr Saham and Arshia? Could love blossom between them?”
The cast includes Samina Ahmed, Saba Faisal, Saife Hasan, Sahiba Afzal, Afzal Khan, Namra Shahid, Fahima Awan, Faisal Naqvi, and Ahsan Afzal Khan.
Umme Ayesha season 2
Want a more serious vibe? Then the second season of Umme Ayesha is the show for you. This sombre drama follows Umme Ayesha, a devout woman with unwavering faith that guides her decisions. Her path intertwines with Azmeer, a charismatic and modern man who stands in stark contrast to Umme Ayesha’s core values and all she holds dear.
After the two are married, Azmeer shatters Umme Ayesha’s peaceful life, throwing her into a relentless storm of challenges that test her resilience and faith.
The show questions “Will Azmeer truly accept Umme Ayesha into his life? Will he learn to appreciate her strength and deep faith in God? Can Umme Ayesha inspire Azmeer and lead him toward the right path?”
The show stars Kanwal Khan and Farhan Ahmed Malhi in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Azra Mansoor, Shabbir Jaan, Beena Chaudhry, Akbar Islam, Lubna Aslam, Ayesha Rajpoot, Bisma Babar, Asma Saif and Emaan Ahmed.
Ishq Di Chashni
If you’re looking for an adorable enemies-to-lovers romcom, Ishq Di Chashni needs to be your next watch! This Green TV Entertainment show stars Khushhal Khan and Sehar Khan as children of rival mithai makers.
Rakshi Butt (Sehar) is determined to open her own mithai shop, however, in her path stands a driven man named Sheikh Sheharyar (Khushhal) whose dream is to run a successful restaurant.
As Green TV puts it, “Their paths collide in a whirlwind of competition, misunderstandings, and unexpected companionship. As they chase their dreams, other characters bring their own aspirations and love stories into the mix, creating a web of emotions, rivalries, and heartwarming moments.”
The cast includes Umair Rana, Sachal Afzal, Muhammad Shah, Tauseeq Haider, and Farah Sadia.
