Netflix’s hit rom-com Nobody Wants This is turning into a true family affair, with Leighton Meester joining her husband Adam Brody in the highly anticipated second season.

Meester, best known for her iconic role as Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, will play Abby, the childhood nemesis of protagonist Joanne, portrayed by Kristen Bell. According to Netflix’s Tudum, Abby has transformed into a successful Instagram mommy influencer, setting the stage for a compelling rivalry.

Nobody Wants This debuted last September to critical acclaim. Fans quickly fell for the quirky yet heartfelt story of agnostic sex podcaster Joanne (Bell) and newly single rabbi Noah (Brody).

Their unexpected pairing led to an outpouring of fan reactions. The series was renewed just two weeks after its premiere.

Joining Meester in the new season is actor Miles Fowler (A Man on the Inside), who will play Lenny, a member of Noah’s Matzah Ballers team. Lenny finds himself entangled in a romantic setup with Joanne’s sister, Morgan, played by Justine Lupe.

Brody and Bell’s on-screen chemistry has already made waves, even drawing commentary from Bell’s real-life husband, Dax Shepard. Speaking at the New Yorker Festival in October 2024, Shepard humorously reflected on his wife’s passionate kiss with Brody, calling it “the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film.” He even admitted to being surprised by Bell’s performance, joking, “I didn’t even know she could kiss like that.”

Meester, who’s been married to Brody since 2014, was later asked about her feelings toward the kiss. “How do I feel about the kiss? I think it’s great,” she told reporters on the Golden Globes red carpet. Brody quickly chimed in, adding: “She taught me.”

With Meester now stepping into the fray, Nobody Wants This season 2 promises even more drama, comedy, and romance.
