Mehwish Hayat is making her TV comeback with a dark, chilling role for 7th Sky Entertainment
Pakistani superstar Mehwish Hayat is making her much-anticipated comeback to television after a seven-year hiatus.
The actor, who last graced the small screen in ARY Digital’s Dil Lagi opposite Humayun Saeed, is set to star in a new drama produced by 7th Sky Entertainment. The upcoming serial, which also features Ahsan Khan and Hira Mani in main roles, promises a gripping mix of love, secrets, and suspense.
The production house unveiled the drama’s official trailer and announced Hayat’s return on Instagram. The post’s caption read: “A Story of Love, Secrets and Suspense! The iconic Mehwish Hayat makes her grand return to dramas with none other than the dashing Ahsan Khan along with Hira Mani, in 7th Sky Entertainment’s mega project! Coming soon only on Geo Entertainment!”
The drama, directed by Siraj ul Haq and penned by Fatima Faizan and Amber Azhar, boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Usmaan Peerzada, Zainab Qayoom, Nayyer Ejaz, Sohail Sameer, Osama Tahir, Nida Mumtaz, Shamyl Khan, Afsheen Hayat, and Zohreh Amir. At the helm are producers Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi.
The trailer introduces Hayat in a hauntingly intense avatar. It begins with an eerie shot of a woman’s bloodied hand raised in a desperate cry for help. Hayat’s character then makes a striking entrance — donning a bold red dress, applying red lipstick, and delicately holding a rose. “My relationship with happiness is limited; I condition myself not to expect joy,” she says ominously.
A past scene of Khan’s character furiously confronting Hayat’s is flashed before our eyes. “I will punish you by never forgiving you,” he says to Hayat, who, in this scene, is dressed rather simply.
Her present self then tells viewers: “They are bound by their habits, and I am bound by mine. I have a habit of forgiving people.”
The trailer then takes a dramatic turn with a gunshot — though the shooter remains unseen, a red sleeve suggests Hayat’s involvement. Subsequent shots of her wiping blood from her face and breaking into hysterical laughter lend to the idea that she is the culprit.
In one of the most visually arresting moments, Hayat is seen caressing her face with a rose before switching to a knife. The trailer concludes with a shot of Hayat walking away from Khan’s character and discarding the rose.
Given Hayat’s stellar track record in both television and film, her return to the small screen has been met with widespread excitement.
Dil Lagi, her last drama, was both a critical and commercial success. After this, Hayat made her Hollywood small-screen debut with the Ms. Marvel series. Fans have long awaited her return to Pakistani TV, and this upcoming drama promises to showcase her in a role unlike any she has played before.
