Bilal Maqsood’s Pakkay Dost is becoming more inclusive with sign language interpretation
Singer Bilal Maqsood’s puppet show Pakkay Dost has announced a partnership with ConnectHear for a sign language interpretation of the children’s show.
ConnectHear, a disability services and support organisation, aims to make Pakistan more inclusive for the deaf community and interpreting Pakkay Dost will do just that for children.
“Their team of trained interpreters and accessibility experts will integrate sign language seamlessly, ensuring that every scene is a joyful and meaningful experience for all children, deaf or otherwise,” a statement from the organisation and the show said.
“We are very excited to partner with ConnectHear,” Maqsood said. “Our mission is to bring joy, learning and cultural enrichment and create a brighter childhood for all children. This collaboration is a significant step towards making Pakkay Dost truly inclusive and ensuring that every child can experience the magic of our show.”
Arham Ishtiaq, the co-founder of ConnectHear said, “At ConnectHear, we believe in creating a world where no one is left behind. This alliance with Pakkay Dost allows us to bridge the gap in children’s entertainment and education for the deaf community.
“We’re not just adding sign language to the show — we’re adding joy, imagination, and inclusion to every deaf child’s life.”
Pakkay Dost is a colourful children’s puppet show created by Maqsood that fosters a love for Urdu in young audiences.
