New Year’s lessons from our favourite celebrities that we’re carrying into 2025
As we enter the new year, our favourite Pakistani celebrities shared some words of wisdom that we’re holding on to in 2025.
Here’s what they had to say!
Hania Aamir — Build a relationship with yourself
Everyone’s favourite actor Hania Aamir shared a heartwarming video featuring clips from 2024. She said, “Loved deeply, and loved even more. Surprised myself, and kept finding new ways to amaze. Picked myself up and stood tall with me. Chose myself and didn’t look back. Found love in life, and found it within. Won, lost, and still won.
“2024 was the year I built my favourite relationship — with myself.”
We love this message of self-love and building a relationship with yourself.
Maria Unera — Gratitude and readiness for new beginnings
One of Aamir’s best friends, singer Maria Unera, also shared a video full of clips from the past year.
In a detailed Instagram caption, she wrote, “Goodbye, 2024. As this year comes to an end, I can’t help but look back at the journey that brought me here. 2023 was a year that broke me in ways I never thought possible. It tested my strength, my faith, and my understanding of the world and myself. I was left feeling vulnerable, unsure, and at times, completely lost. But through the pain, through the struggle, I found pieces of myself I never knew existed.”
Unera said that the year was one of healing and self-discovery, and taught her about not only who she was but who the people around her were.
“There have been moments this year where I’ve realised just how much I can learn about myself through the connections I share with others—connections that have made me more introspective, more aware, and more open to change.”
The singer highlighted her “profound” growth, which helped her see herself in a new light and understand that while the road wasn’t perfect, she was stronger, wiser and more attuned to what she needed.
“Now, as 2024 draws to a close, I feel a deep sense of gratitude — for the lessons, for the moments of quiet strength, for the people who have walked this road with me. And with all that I’ve learned, I’m ready to step into 2025 with open arms and a hopeful heart.”
Unera thanked 2024 for helping her heal and for unexpected moments of growth. She said, “Whatever 2025 brings, I know I’ve faced enough to know that I can handle it, and that it will only add to the person I’m becoming. […] Here’s to new beginnings, brighter days, and all the possibilities that await.”
Nehaal Naseem — Acknowledge the efforts and support of those around you
Nehaal Naseem, who had an incredible year with her hit song ‘Sadqaay’, said she didn’t want to write a whole paragraph but nobody could stop her from acknowledging the efforts and support of the people around her.
“I am so so grateful of my family for allowing me to have a smooth journey to where I am right now. Will forever and ever and ever be grateful to mama and baba. No matter how much I emphasise on it, it’ll never be enough on how my siblings have helped me every step of the way.”
The singer said she had a tough time managing high school with her schedule but the people around her were her source of motivation.
“This is beyond what I dreamt lekin, picture abhi baaki hai mere doust [there is more to come, my friend].”
Durefishan Saleem — Be your true, authentic self
Durefishan Saleem did something different and shared a handwritten note on her Instagram dated January 1, 2025. The black and white note read, “You are not supposed to have it all figured out. The beauty of life is watching yourself grow into someone you never imagined you’d become. Here is to 2025 and every day of being your true authentic self in a fast-paced world where you constantly feel the need to be on top. Authenticity will take you to places people-pleasing won’t.”
The actor celebrated “real success”, the kind that extended beyond six months of views and Target Rating Points (TRP) and was in fact a calm mind, a peaceful life, a heartful of love and forgiveness.
“To never letting anyone dim your light and to anyone standing with grace and humility in the face of adversity.”
Hira Tareen — When you feel like quitting is most likely when you’re on the brink of a breakthrough
Actor Hira Tareen shared a list of lessons she had learned over the past year. The list went something like this:
- To feel something is entirely different than to be something
- Instead of making to-do lists, make the s**t I got done today lists
- When you feel like quitting is most likely when you’re on the brink of a breakthrough
- The longer you entertain what’s not for you, the longer you postpone what is
- Sometimes what you choose not to do is so much more valuable than what you choose to do
- Pores are pretty
- Don’t ask people for directions to places they’ve never been
- People only like authenticity when it’s not louder than their facade
- If there are uncontrollable delays then the best time is not right now
Kiran Malik — Trust yourself
Kiran Malik posted an aesthetic picture of herself staring out at the sea, and shared her reflections for the new year with a gentle reminder.
“Happiness doesn’t require a perfect life. It’s not about everything being flawless or the future being clear, but about noticing the beauty in what’s already here.”
The model called for appreciation of the small blessings, the love that surrounds one and the freedom to choose one’s next steps even when it feels uncertain.
“Trust yourself, follow what feels right, and continue making brave, love-filled choices!”
Maya Ali — Cherish your gal pals
In an adorable Instagram of her and her loved ones, Maya Ali said, “2024, you were kind. 2025, let’s shine!”
The actor gave a special shoutout to her girls for being there when she was down and reminding her to get to work when necessary. “Jokes aside, tum log na hoti to main kya karti? [What would I do without you?].”
