Israel announced on Wednesday that it will allow Egypt to deliver limited humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. White House officials said that aid will start moving from Friday and so far, only 20 trucks of food, water and other supplies will be allowed into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing.

The siege of Palestine has entered its 13th day as of Thursday and supplies in Gaza are running out. We’ve compiled a list of seven organisations through which Pakistanis can help the people of Palestine.

Al Khidmat Foundation

Al Khidmat Foundation has partnered with Turkish organisations like IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, Hayrat Foundation and Cansuyu Association to channel the financial aid collected in Pakistan to Gaza. Donations can be made online, through their website, or in person at their office, with all transactions in rupees.

Palestine Children’s Relief Funds

The Palestine Children Relief Fund has teams on ground in Gaza that are delivering crucial and life-saving medical relief and humanitarian aid. They are accepting financial assistance to help over a million children of Gaza who need urgent care. You can make online donations via credit cards in dollars here.

Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS)

The Palestine Red Crescent Society has hospitals in Gaza which are providing life-saving treatment to injured Palestinians. They are accepting online payments, in dollars, through their website. However, you will need a Mastercard or Visa card to donate.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières

Doctors Without Borders is an independent and impartial medical humanitarian organisation. They have worked in Gaza for more than 20 years and have been operating a reconstructive surgery programme in northern Gaza. Currently, 300 people who work in the organisation are on-ground in Gaza.

They are asking for financial aid to provide medical and humanitarian supplies to people in Gaza. They are accepting payments in dollars which can be paid through Mastercard or Visa cards here.

Action for Humanity Canada

Action for Humanity Canada has set up a donation campaign on Launchgood. They are asking for monetary assistance which will be used to give Palestinians urgent medical supplies, disposables, and 50,000 dignity kits for men and women.

Islamic Relief Worldwide

Islamic Relief is a faith-inspired humanitarian and development agency based in the United Kingdom. The organisation has been providing humanitarian aid in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 1997. With your donation the agency will work with the local community to deliver vital aid. They require financial assistance, which can be given via bank cards here

Human Appeal

Human Appeal is a non-profit organisation working across the globe. They have an office and a team working on ground in Palestine. The organisation has launched a Gaza Emergency Appeal through which they are seeking financial backing to provide fuel to ambulances and hospitals, family food parcels and hygiene kits in Gaza.

On Wednesday, the United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution that would have condemned Hamas’ attack on Israel while calling for a pause in the fighting to allow humanitarian assistance into Gaza. The US was the sole vote against the resolution, with 12 members voting in favour, and Russia and the United Kingdom abstaining.

During his visit to Tel Aviv, President Joe Biden said the 20 trucks allowed into Gaza represented a “first tranche” of aid and whether the rest are allowed to cross would depend on “how it goes”. However, the US president warned that if Hamas tried to divert the aid meant for Palestinian people, it would be halted.

More than 200 trucks and some 3,000 tons of aid are positioned at or near the Rafah crossing, which is the only border between Gaza and Egypt. It was struck by Israeli airstrikes, rendering the border inaccessible and killing thousands of Palestinians with foreign citizenships who had gathered in hopes of crossing into Egypt.

It has been 13 days since Israel imposed a “complete siege” of Gaza and 10 days since it cut off entry of supplies to the area. The situation in Gaza, which is home to 2.3 million Palestinians, is dire.

Authorities say that so far, over 3,478 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, around a quarter of them children, and more than 13,000 wounded are in hospitals desperately short of supplies.
