Zayn Malik and Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley to star in 10 Lives
Musician Zayn Malik will be making his film debut in the animated family comedy movie, 10 Lives, along with Bridgerton actor Simone Ashley and three-time BAFTA winner Mo Gilligan.
The movie is about a pampered and selfish cat who takes the lives that he has been given for granted. After carelessly losing his ninth life, he begs to be given a second chance, an opportunity to show he can learn from his mistakes. Eventually, his wish is granted, but with certain, hilarious conditions.
The film is directed by Duck Duck Goose’s Chris Jenkins and produced by Guy Collins and Sean Feeney for 10 Lives Productions Ltd. Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn and Sophie Okonedo of Hotel Rwanda fame are also set to voice characters in the new film.
A week or so before the announcement, the singer-songwriter expressed gratitude to his fans in a rare post on Twitter. Appreciating people who have supported him through thick and thin during his 13-year career since he first debuted with the pop boy band in 2010, he said that he “owes” his life to his fans.
The former One Direction member is also working on his fourth album, according to UTA, whom he signed up with last year for representation across music, film and television, among other areas. He isn’t the only one from the former boyband to try his hand at acting — Harry Styles made his acting debut in 2017 with the role of a British soldier during World War II in the film Dunkirk and he’s been seen in various movies ever since. It’ll be exciting for 1D and Malik fans to also see him try his luck in a new medium.
