Mr India actor Satish Kaushik passes away at 66

The Indian actor-director suffered a heart attack while travelling.

Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik passed at the age of 66 in Delhi on Thursday. According to the Times of India, he suffered a fatal heart attack.

The BBC reported that he was travelling in a car at the time of the attack and was taken to the hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Kaushik was born on April 13, 1956, and worked as an actor, comedian, producer and screenwriter. He received acclaim for his role of a cook called Calendar in the 1987 hit film, Mr. India.

His other notable works as an actor include his roles in the films Ram Lakhan, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Deewana Mastana. As a director, he achieved success with Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Prem, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain and Tere Naam.

His close friend, actor Anupam Kher, broke the tragic news on Twitter. Kher’s tweet read, “I know ‘death is the ultimate truth of this world!’ But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!”

Other big film stars also shared their condolences for the late actor on social media.

India’s Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to Kaushik, saying, “His contribution to Indian cinema, artistic creations and performances will always be remembered.”

His last performance will be seen in the upcoming Kangana Ranaut directorial Emergency.
