When you think of Hindi comedy films, Akshay Kumar is the name that is sure to come to mind. The actor has played some very iconic roles that have made the audience erupt in laughter and hit replay on his films when they need a boost in mood. Hera Pheri, Awara Pagal Deewana and Welcome are some of Kumar’s most loved films and luckily for you, they are making a comeback.

According to Pinkvilla, though the Ram Setu actor has been focused on changing it up and doing more hero films, he is currently involved in trying to revive three of his greatest franchises. The pandemic has changed the way audiences interact with cinema and it was tough to get seats filled, especially in smaller cinema houses. In an effort to attract more people to the big screen for non-spectacle films, Kumar is bringing back his old but gold characters.

“Over the years, Akshay Kumar and comedy have proved to be a lethal combo and the actor has delivered few of the most iconic characters for Hindi cinema in this space, which have formed a part of pop culture too. Three of his many loved characters are Raju from Hera Pheri, Guru Gulab Khatri from Awara Pagal Deewana, and Rajiv from Welcome. Come 2023 and he will be revisiting these characters one after the other with Hera Pheri 3, Awara Pagal Deewana 2, and *Welcome 3,”* revealed a source close to the development.

Though these three projects have been reported on for a while, things are finally getting set in motion. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor and his team have taken the responsibility to entertain the audience with these sequels and they plan on delivering.

“Akshay and Firoz have had multiple meetings over the last month, to get everything in place for these projects. The idea is to revive the three franchises and bring back the Hindi cinema audience in a big way. The three films fit the bill of post-Covid content to create genuine excitement in the audience. The talks are on with three top directors (we will bring more on this soon) and we expect an official announcement on one of the three projects in the next few months,” the source added.

Aside from the sequels, the actor has several projects in the pipeline that will release in the coming two years. This includes Bade Miyan Chote Miyan costarring Tiger Shroff, Jolly LLB 3 with Arshad Warsi and Housefull 5 featuring Riteish Deshmukh, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Bobby Deol.

No one is interested in this flop buddha and his poor quality quickies . He only got hits through fake jingoism and manipulating box office numbers. These tricks will not work post Covid.

@Ghajnavi I agree with you. Nepotism has killed Bollywood while South cinema continues to grow and become more successful even among North Indians.
