Ticket prices for Maula Jatt to go up by Rs200 for big cities, Rs100 for smaller cities
The Legend of Maula Jatt, scheduled to release on Thursday, is coming to cinemas near you very soon but at a higher cost than usual. The price will be raised by Rs200 in bigger cities and Rs100 in smaller ones.
Filmmaker Nadeem Mandviwalla, who owns Atrium Cinemas in Karachi, told Images that ticket prices will only be raised for the initial 11 days. They will drop down to regular prices afterwards.
He also said that it is expected that advance booking at Nueplex will begin by Tuesday night. He declined to explain the reason for the delay of the advance booking as they remain under negotiations. You can get book your tickets right now on the Atrium website for Rs1,050 each rather than its regular Rs850.
The movie is set to release on October 13 and Mandviwala said there will be a press conference after the premiere to explain the reason for the increase. It remains to be seen how the price increase will affect the number of moviegoers but it is likely that the number will decrease given the cost per ticket.
Mandviwalla recalled other instances where ticket prices were increased for a certain period of time. He gave examples of price increases at Atrium for films The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers.
A reboot of Yunus Malik’s 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt, the film is a re-telling the story of the rivalry between Maula Jatt and Noori Natt.
Directed by Bilal Lashari, The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Nayyer Ejaz, Shafqat Cheema, Raheela Agha, Zia Khan and Saima Baloch. The Punjabi film is being produced by Ammara Hikmat’s Encyclomedia and Lashari Films. The distribution will be done by Nadeem Mandviwalla under Mandviwalla Entertainment.
The big-budget film has faced several delays and is finally being released after production was begun in 2017.
