Netflix’s Delhi Crime returns for season 2 with a new case and mysteries to unravel
The teaser for the second season of Netflix’s Delhi Crime is out now and it is intense, with more crimes in the city of Delhi. The teaser didn’t clue us in on the specific case that will be tackled this season, but it did bring back Shefali Shah as DCP Vartika Singh.
On Friday, the streaming site shared the first teaser of the much-awaited Indian show that shot to fame for it’s coverage of a sensitive rape case that not only shook India but the entire world.
The trailer opens to Shah’s voice talking about the Delhi slums, how there is a certain group that lives there and works for the elites that live in “palaces”. “The difference in the income between the two is enormous. Policing a city like this one is a complete task, and for an understaffed force at that,” Shah says in the teaser as the scenes move to a murder scene.
Vartika’s team is also seen in the short clip — Neeti Singh, played by Rasika Duggal, and Bhupendra Singh, played by Rajesh Tailang. Adil Hussain, Anurag Arora, Sidharth Bhardwaj and Gopal Dutt also reprise their roles.
The first season was written, directed and created by Richie Mehta but this time around he has been credited as the creator of the second instalment. Tanuj Chopra is the showrunner and director whereas Mayank Tewari, Shubhra Swarup, Ensia Mirza, Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh and Virat Basoya have been credited as writers.
The show bagged an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2020 and premiered three years ago. The seven-part series was loosely based on the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case.
With only few hints given in the teaser and no case to follow so far, the upcoming season will drop on the OTT site on August 25.
