The Joker may have got himself a new Harley Quinn in Lady Gaga. The American singer is reportedly in the early stages of talks of joining the cast for a musical Joker sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix as the supervillain.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 'Poker Face' singer is in early talks to star opposite Phoenix who originally played the supervillain in the 2019 film helmed by Todd Phillips. Phoenix won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in the film.

Phillips has been co-writing the script along with Scott Silver, who wrote the script for first part as well. A week ago, the filmmaker had shared the title of the project "Joker: Folie à deux" which, according to the publication, is a reference to a medical term for an identical or similar mental disorder that affects two or more individuals, usually members of the same family.

But the social media post has no mention of the actors involved, especially Gaga. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros has yet to close a deal with her.

Details of Gaga's character are being kept under wraps but Joker is known for his on and off toxic relationship with Harley Quinn who was his psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum at first and later falls in love with him.

If a deal is struck between the production house and Gaga then the singer would most likely play the henchwoman for the DC supervillain. However, the upcoming sequel is being reported as a musical instead of a dark and intense character-piece. Phillips previously produced A Star Is Born, the 2018 remake that starred Bradley Cooper and Gaga.
