After directing Taylor Swift's music video, actor Blake Lively has set her sights on bigger fish and will be making her debut as a film director with Seconds, a film adaptation of the graphic novel by Bryan Lee O'Malley.

The author took to his Instagram to share the big news and he was as excited as his fans were upon finding out. He attached several screenshots of the news and captioned it, "Let's GO."

This is not the first time one of O'Malley's novels have been adapted for the big screen. His Scott Pilgrim series led to the creation of the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World that gained a cult following. The filmmaker who adapted the novel, Edgar Wright, is also involved with Seconds — he wrote the script and will be producing alongside Marc Platt.

Published in 2014, Seconds follows the story of a girl named Katie Clay who has the power to fix her mistakes by writing them in a notebook, eating a mushroom and falling asleep. The story reaches its conflict point when Clay gets ahead of herself and becomes obsessed with fixing every aspect of her life until she goes too far and changes the life she initially had. Not just this, the problems reach crescendo when she ends up messing with the very fabric of space and time.

The book was O’Malley's first work after he wrapped up his cult classic Pilgrim graphic novel series.

Lively made her directorial debut last year when she directed the music video for Taylor Swift’s 'I Bet You Think About Me'. The response was quite positive and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the video earned her nominations for the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards for directing and producing.

The Savages actor is best known for her role on popular series Gossip Girl that ran from 2007 to 2012. Soon after it ended, the actor transitioned to an in-demand film star, landing roles in films such as The Age of Adaline and A Simple Favour. She's worked with acclaimed directors like Ben Affleck and Rebecca Miller so her switch to being behind the camera was aided by years of observing great directors at work.

Author O’Malley is best known for his Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series and its 2010 film adaptation, co-written and directed by Wright, appointed Michael Cera as the lead, the cast featuring other notable names such as Chris Evans, Brie Larson and Kieran Culkin. The film didn't do well at the box office but received positive reviews and bagged several awards and nominations.
