The new Batman film is going to be one of the longest superhero movies in the market. Matt Reeve's The Batman runs for two hours 55 minutes of which eight minutes are for the ending credits, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Robert Pattinson's stint as Batman is one of the longest runtimes for a superhero movie after Marvel's 2019 Avengers: Endgame, which had a runtime of three hours and one minute. Endgame broke box office records with its $1.2 billion global opening.

The new film will be the first film starring Batman to have such a long runtime.

Technically, the record holder for the longest superhero film is Zack Snyder's Justice League that ran for four hours and two minutes, but the Snyder cut didn't make it to theatres. The version that was screened in cinemas had a much shorter runtime at two hours.

Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight series also followed the pattern of longer films. The most recent film to have a longer runtime is James Bond's No Time To Die, which was two hours and 43 minutes long.

The upcoming Batman film is based on Bruce Wayne's early days of fighting crime in Gotham. While the film will offer full action it will also offer some romance between him and Catwoman, played by Zoë Kravitz. Actor Paul Dano will be playing the supervillain The Riddler and Colin Farrell will be seen as the Penguin.

The film will be releasing in theatres on March 4 and will be one of many superhero movies to hit the big screens this year. Other films scheduled to release this year include Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Black Adam, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Flash.
