Drama Sang-e-Mah's theatre release pushed back to January 8
The date for the cinematic release of the first episode of drama Sang-e-Mah has been pushed back to January 8. The drama marks singer Atif Aslam's television acting debut and the star-studded cast includes Hania Aamir, Kubra Khan, Sania Saeed, Naumaan Ijaz, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Zaviyar Ejaz.
The sequel to 2016's Sang-e-Mar Mar, the show will air on Hum TV on Jan 9. Initially, the cinematic premiere was to be held on Jan 7.
A spokesperson had told Images that since there isn't much going in Pakistani theatres in terms of local content, they hope that the episode will allow viewers to enjoy something Pakistani-centric content on the big screen.
The drama will deal with sensitive issues such as ghag — a custom where a call is made by a man to claim a woman for marriage. Aamir took to her Instagram to explain what the custom is and said it is a form of an announcement which insinuates that "this girl is my bride and anyone who tries to send a proposal will meet a distasteful fate."
The story follows a family belonging to the tribal areas of Pakistan and their traditional values that are prioritised over love and even their lives. Sang-e-Mar Mar was declared a hit and so expectations from this one are very high, especially because of the star-studded cast.
