Kanye West has started working on Donda 2 and it'll be the first sequel he's produced for an album

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, released his album Donda half a year ago and within weeks it was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America having sold over 500,000 copies in the United States. The immediate success must have served as motivation because Ye is back at it again with Donda 2.

Steven Victor, founder and CEO of Victor Victor Worldwide, COO of GOOD Music, and SVP of A&R at Universal Music Group, is a record executive who's worked extensively with Ye and he told Complex that Ye is working on "his new masterpiece" and it is going to be a follow-up of his 10th studio album Donda.

The 22-time Grammy winner has never before produced a sequel to any of his albums so if he sticks with the name, this will be the first one ever.

Ye debuted Donda in August by hosting three listening events but it was when the album became available on streaming platforms that it really took off.

Pulling off the listening session — which was live streamed on Apple Music — was an impressive feat for West, who sold out the venue two days after announcing the first public listen of his highly-anticipated album.

Some of the big names who attended the event were Rick Ross, Khloe Kardashian and his estranged wife Kim Kardashian West, who showed up in a red jumpsuit with their kids.

The album was named after his mother, Donda West, who died at the age of 58 following plastic surgery complications in 2007.

The tracks on his album feature gospel themes, hip-hop vibes, his Auto-Tune vocals, a track featuring his friend-mentor Jay-Z and recorded speeches made by his mother.

Ye is one to make headlines often — more recently, due to his antics post-split with Kim Kardashian such as begging her to take him back at a concert.

West also applied for presidential candidacy in 2020 and voted for himself.
