Congratulations are in order! Bismah Maroof — the captain of Pakistan women's national cricket team — recently announced the birth of her baby daughter on social media. Many athletes and journalists posted their congratulations to the new mom, expressing happiness at the announcement of the news.

Maroof posted the happy news of her daughter's arrival on Twitter on August 30. "Allah SWT has blessed me with a daughter Alhamdulillah," she wrote.

Soon after, her tweet was flooded with replies and well-wishes from followers as well as fellow athletes and journalists.

Sports anchor and journalist Sawera Pasha congratulated Maroof and told her to "get ready for the second innings".

Cricketer Sohail Tanveer congratulated Maroof and her family.

And so did cricketer Umar Gul.

English cricketer Heather Knight also sent some love to the new mom.

Anchor Haider Azhar sent his best wishes to the happy family.

Cricketer Anwar Ali Khan made a little prayer for Maroof's baby daughter.

The Pakistan Cricket Board also congratulated Maroof and light-heartedly asked its followers whether the cricketer's newborn will grow up to be "a batter or a bowler?"

The PCB recently announced its new Parental Support Policy in May. According to the policy, women cricketers will be entitled to paid maternity leave for a year. They will also have the option of switching to a non-playing role as they approach their maternity leave. The policy guaranteed a contract for the following year when leaving for maternity leave. Additionally upon the player's return, they will be provided physical training and support to rehabilitate them post-childbirth.

We wish Maroof all the very best for this new chapter in life.
