SOC Films has released its second animated film CoronaVirus and Mental Health as part of its Siyani Sahelian animation series, which is being produced in collaboration with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi.

The six-and-a-half-minute film highlights the impact of the coronavirus and its socio-economic effect on people’s mental health. Asghari, the main character, shares her suggestions and tips on how to manage mental health and anxiety by enforcing activities and patterns of mindfulness in everyday routines.

Encouraging people to do productive activities in the day, the film provides information on how to avoid deteriorating mental health and stay positive.

Scripted by Safyah Usmani with animation by Kulsum Ibrahim, the sound is done by Sameer Khan, editing by Sourath Behan and voiceovers by Rabia Kiran Rajput, Mariam Rizvi and Ali Akbar.

Launched in March 2018, Siyani Sahelian is a programme that aims to tackle gender inequality for disadvantaged out of school adolescent girls (aged nine to 19) in 60 towns and villages spread across the three districts of South Punjab — Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

To date, the programme has empowered over 36,000 out of school adolescent girls in South Punjab through post-primary opportunities for learning gains, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, livelihoods and life skills.
