Atif Aslam releases a new naat as a Ramazan gift
Atif Aslam's much awaited new naat is here, it's a Ramazan gift and sounds heavenly. Aslam sang the iconic 'Mustafa Jaan E Rehmat' — written by Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi and performed by countless people over the years — as part of an ensemble, with the lead vocals overlapping soothing vocal harmonies.
The ensemble features five singers, including lead Aslam and the latest Coke Studio inductee in a lead singing capacity, though a longtime contributor otherwise, Ali Pervez Mehdi. The other singers are Nouman Javed, Ahsan Pervaiz Mehdi and Kumail Jaffery.
The video opens showing the five men standing in a line, centred by Aslam, dressed in a modest white, with their hands respectfully folded in the front of them. The video covers the group in that position, singing, with a consistent low-contrast look and feel through out the five minute and eight second video.
Aslam previously had posted a collection of teasers on his Instagram, exciting his fans for what was 'coming soon'.
Aslam's focus on reciting religious texts over the last few years has been popular with his fans. He often times his releases with Ramazan. Aslam's super-hit Coke Studio version of Tajdar-e-Haram has 309 million views on YouTube today. Others include his rendition of the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan gem Wohi Khuda Hai and recitation of the Asma-ul-Hasna, the 99 names of Allah.
With this annual update to your Ramazan playlist, Pakistan's favourite Aslam has come up another fan-favourite.
