Is it double roti or dabba roti? Desi Twitter debates bread

First of all, how dare you?

After the blue and black dress controversy, social media has people shaking their heads in disapproval as they debate over bread.

A person on Twitter decided to let people know that all this time we've been referring to bread as double roti while the actual term was dabba roti and no one is okay with this take.

Many responded to this claim starting off with "First of all, how dare you?" and much much more.

But is it really?

Because, no

Right in the childhood

We are not okay

No affiliations whatsoever

I think 'insufficient' research has been done on this type of roti. The author should have instead asked the public for their opinion on the true origins for the name?

Dabba Roti based upon the local cooks who had to bake the bread for their British masters in Bread Cans that they called Dabba. With time and the return pronunciation by British to their more relevant Double for Dabba, might be the reason for calling the Loaf Bread a Double Roti.

I think "double roti" comes from sandwich bread and the English usage of "being sandwiched". So ordinarily to make a sandwich you'll use two slices of bread so that's the "Double Roti" and then you put something in between to make it a proper sandwich. On the same token, is it a bun-kebab or bund-kebab?

Tamam bayanaat aur sabooton ko madd e nazar rakhtay huay, ye adalat iss nateejay per pohonchi hai ke 'double roti' is and always has been 'double roti'. There is insufficient evidence to why it would or ever was called 'dabba roti'. The person who started this 'dabba roti' nonsense is a nuisance to society and we urge NAB to file a reference against him/her.

I am sorry to read about this debate 'double roti' OR Dabba roti. Leave it alone whatever it is, everyone knows it. The starter has a valid point because it was baked in a dabba like pot. Since it has been there for many decades, therefore, leave it alone. Instead, some of the comments were having abusive words that should not there as a nation we should develop our behaviour so that we can always agree to disagree which can improve social tolerance among the people. I would request the people to take social problems and debate on those and suggest solutions to those. Be happy and spread happiness.
