Joker crosses $1 billion, becomes highest grossing R-rated movie
The film is also the first R-rated movie to rake in a billion dollars at the box office, passing Deadpool and The Matrix

Todd Philip's take of The Joker's origins may have been met with mixed reviews but that didn't stop it from ruling the box office.
Deadline reports that film Joker has finally crossed the $1 billion mark, becoming the 44th film to do so. Passing ahead of films like Deadpool 2 and Matrix Reloaded, it has also become the highest grossing R-rated film.
The movie, which shows a non-canon tale about the clown prince of crime, made headlines when it bagged $93.5 million in the first three days since it's opening.
Right now Joker sits just behind The Dark Knight on the all-time box office earners.
