Model Eman Suleman says she doesn't want to share her LSA nomination with an accused harasser

The model was nominated as 'Best Emerging Talent in Fashion,' but says she'd rather give up the honour
Updated 31 Mar, 2019

Model Eman Suleman has quickly become known for being gutsy, outspoken, and always speaking up about social issues.

She's previously spoken up about sexual harassment in the entertainment industry as well as body image; this time she took to social media to make an announcement: that she is not comfortable sharing a Lux Style Award nomination with someone accused of harassment.

In a short video on Instagram, Eman says: "I was extremely honoured to be nominated for the Lux Style Awards. What I'm going to say next is probably going to result in a lot of eyerolls and vitriol. [But] I do not wish to be part of an accolade that is shared with an alleged harasser. I feel no joy. Maybe give the nomination to someone who feels happy about it. I don't. I am basically done."

In her caption to the post she clarified that she had not sent her portfolio to the LSAs for consideration.

Though she took no names in the video, followers on social media were quick to comment under her video proposing that she is referring to recent harassment allegations within the entertainment industry.

As she predicted, some on social media called her out, but many also commended her for standing up for her beliefs.

Speaking to Images, an LSA representative stated that: "A nominee has the right to withdraw and not attend. The Awards office sets up independent juries and they select nominees based on the work done during the awards calendar year. The listings won't change but Eman has the right to not attend."

Haven't Meesha's charges been dropped and Ali Zafar acquitted of charges? No semblance of evidence was produced and Meesha never appeared in any of the proceedings. Maybe this 'boycott' is just for cheap publicity.

@Uzi DO you work in entertainment industry of pakistan? That lady works there and being a lady she knows better, irrespective of whether you belong to there or not. Or you must be one of those Asian males, who thinks Men are supposed to have an opinion on women. Shame

She has no right to issue such statements when a man is yet to be found guilty. This is just attention-grabbing.
