Trevor Noah apologises for joking about the Pakistan-India conflict

The Daily Show host recently remarked that a Pak-India war would be 'the most entertaining war of all time'
Updated 04 Mar, 2019

As the world had its eyes on rising tensions between Pakistan and India following the Pulwama attack, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah put his own humourous spin on it and reported the news with a Bollywood twist.

He joked about both countries' long history of hostility, calling the war "slightly less dangerous" than Cardi B vs Nicki Minaj armed with nuclear weapons.

However, what sparked fury was his comment that it would be "the most entertaining war of all time" as well as "the longest — another dance number!" He likened Bollywood dance beats to gunfire and the joke didn't go down well with everyone, with many calling him out for insensitivity and racism.

Trevor has since apologised for his skit:

He also remarked that his skit seemed to have received more attention than the conflict itself:

What other options has he got to stay afloat, make his presence felt, prove his humanity, save his fans base, get counted and remain in the powerful media limelight?

Indians are so easily offended. They should take a chill pill and relax. Life is too short for this nonsense.

Trevor Noah revealed that he laughed out aloud, incontrollably and spasmodically when his mother concked off and then apologised for joking about the Pakistan-India conflict. He is one dignified gentleman, if you ever needed one urgently...

@Humza . Humans are very strange creatures. You guys need to relax ...laugh a bit and relax again. Life is too short to get upset for things we have no control over. JESUS CHRIST said these wars and things would take place. So no matter what, it's going to happen. So just pray and relax. Trevor I love your humour. ..you are the boss

People need to relax. All these wars and things are meant for our times. These things are going to take place whether we like it or not. It was predicted 2000 years ago. So just pray and relax. Trevor I just love your humour....you are the Boss. Keep doing your thing...

I liked the Joke.... Comedians point out the absurdities of a situation. Both countries now need to calm down and people need to chill. He made fun of both not just one. I hate it when people laugh when its no them and then get angry when they are being made fun of. Be consistent with your laughter else you are a Hippocrate.

C'mon guys lighten up a bit. He is messaging about those people on both sides who are filled with hatred and seek nothing less than war. And in doing so, he is reminding them of their foolishness. Nothing wrong with that.

I understand he makes jokes about his mother, but he would have felt bad if someone else had joked about his mum. While we had a go at each other, Pakistanis and Indians are one and I don’t want him to make fun about us or our differences.

it was funny....bollywood songs can last for good 10mins with crowed of a packed cricket match..his joke wasn't offensive at all...its amazing people can laugh and defend freedom of speech when they attack other religion but can't take it when its directed at some small stuff like this..yes the war is serious matter but his joke wasn't bad. indians are offended because their lies have been exposed and they've lost badly to pakistan. thats the crux of it !

Not offensive at all - good clean joke as far as I’m concerned. I’ve seen Indian news anchors that are trying to be serious make offensive comments that would probably land you in jail in the UK. If you don’t point them out first then there is a clear double standard going on here.

Bollywood constantly offensive towards black people for e.g. by use of black face and is also represented in attitude of society where people of African origin are mistreated. Similarly, most of these movies are quite offensive and demeaning towards white women by showing them to be half naked and gyrating.

Have a sense of humor folks, he didn't mean any harm. Besides these dance numbers in Indian and Pakistani films are there to just patch up inherent weakens of their films. If Hollywood did that it would only be in a musical or a comedy. No serious films in the west have 'dance' numbers.
