Veteran actor Ali Ejaz passes away at 77

He will be remembered for his roles in comedy serials such as Khawaja and Sons

Veteran actor Ali Ejaz, known for his performance in many iconic family and comedy films and TV serials, passed away after suffering cardiac arrest in Lahore today, reports Radio Pakistan. He was 77.

Perhaps best known for his role as a disciplinarian father with several no-good children in the TV comedy Khawaja & Sons, Mr Ejaz has also starred in numerous films, including FBI Operation Pakistan and Wehshi Jatt.

In his later life, Mr Ejaz was involved in philanthropic work under the umbrella of his eponymous charity Ali Ejaz Foundation. One of his notable projects was the ‘The Homes for the Welfare of the Old People’, which involved the construction of 132 old homes over an area of 17.5 kanals in Gol village, Kala Khatai, near Ferozewala.

So sad to hear this heartbreaking news. He was my extended family member. He came to Canada in 1990 and stayed in our house. Then we went to India and I took him to Bombay to see Dharminder jee. I`m so lucky that he went to see my native village near Moga in Punjab. He invited me to see Lahore and he took me and my wife to Nankana Sahib and Sialkot (his in-law`s house). He was really a great actor and a wonderful person. RIP
