Indian singer Mika Singh, who was in Dubai this week to perform at the Masala Awards among other things, was briefly jailed in Abu Dhabi jail after being accused of harassment, reports Hindustan Times.

A 17-year-old model complained to police that Mika sent lewd photos to her, following which the singer was picked up from a bar and jailed.

After the Indian embassy intervened, he was released. Reports say he will be produced before a court on Sunday.

Daler Mehendi, Mika's brother and popular bhangra artist, alleges that his accuser has been part of Mika's entourage for years.

Mika’s spokesperson maintains that the singer is “being framed”: “Mika is being framed. The investigation is on and he is cooperating with the authorities. Soon the truth will be out,” he said.
