Filmmaker/writer Vinta Nanda, who accused actor Alok Nath of raping her, has posted an open letter on Facebook, requesting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the sexual misconduct cases being fought in their country.

She writes, "I request you to provide us with the space in which we will be heard. We never found courage to express ourselves until the #MeToo movement galvanised by honesty of a few, gave us confidence to speak & compelled our countrymen and women to listen to us.

"I request you to show the world, that the change we seek to end the conspiracy of silence, the support we claim for securing ourselves against the consequences of voicing our anguish; will rise above being mere platitudes and become a true reality.

"We're victims but are being victimised and humiliated because the men being questioned have the support of the practices and traditions of male dominance for thousands of years. They say this is no country for women. Prove them otherwise by taking action Sir.

Nanda has also filed a police complaint against Alok Nath, who is suing her for defamation. According to Hindustan Times, an FIR is yet to be registered. A senior police official confirmed that “she (Nanda) gave a written application and our inquiry is on”. Nanda, on her part, in a statement said that the police were “very cooperative” and “officer on duty Mr Pasalwar gave me a female sub-inspector who recorded my statement”. “It was not easy for me to give my statement as it is like reliving your pain,” she said.

Modi is not the judge or the judiciary. Judge decides on defamation case filed by both parties based on proof. Provide that, instead of indulging in publicity stunt.

She should have ideally lodged the complaint first and then gone to Tweeter. Anyway not just Modi whole of law is behind you madam and only thing is you need to prove with evidences that you are a victim.

@Suryakant Agrawal He has opinions on every small insignificant thing but not on matters which impact his supporters. Shows which side of the divide he is on.
