Vinta Nanda responds to Alok Nath's defamation suit

A week after Vinta Nanda came forward with sexual assault allegations against actor Alok Nath, the actor responded by sending her a defamation suit.

According to Hindustan Times, Alok Nath has asked for a written apology along with INR 1 in damages.

However, Vinta is staying her ground. The writer-producer's lawyer said in a statement that they have yet to receive the defamation suit, irrespective of which they will still be going ahead with the case.

"My client will not be intimidated by threats and defamation suits which are primarily meant to delay and distract from to delay and distract from the gravity of the allegations," said her lawyer.

He added: "On instruction of my client it is clear that we are going to fight out legally; the so-called defamation proceedings have not been served upon us as yet - however and whatever the proceedings will be, we will deal with everything following due process of law - at the moment we are awaiting the decisions of various associations where my client has filed her complaint like CINTAA - Cine & TV Artistes Association, SWA - Screen Writers Association, IFTDA - Indian Film & Television Directors Association."

"Mr Nath is supposed to reply to CINTAA by today evening, IFTA by Thursday this week and SWA is meeting me today at 4:30pm. Pursuant to decisions, we will further decisions, we will further decide our next step of action - it is pertinent to note my client is further humiliated in continuity for which we will legally take recourse (we are a team of lawyers who will help her get justice). She will not be deprived of any legal help she seeks."

In a Facebook post, Nanda alleged that Alok Nath raped her, harassed Tara's female lead and damaged both their careers. In the post, she does not explicitly name Alok Nath, instead identifying him as an actor in Tara and "the most #Sanskaari (Cultured) person in the film and television industry." She later confirmed to IANS that she was referring to Alok Nath.
