This travel blogger did the Kiki Challenge on a PIA aircraft and Pakistanis are lauding her

The authorities don't approve of Eva Zu Beck's dance but Pakistani are appreciating the blogger's attempt!
14 Aug, 2018

Polish travel blogger Eva Zu Beck received flak from authorities for performing the Kiki Challenge aboard a PIA aircraft but she's won over many Pakistanis with her dance.

Eva, who is currently travelling in Pakistan via PIA, paired up with the airline to take the wildly popular car dancing challenge called the Kiki Challenge to the next level on the nation's Independence Day - by performing it in an empty aircraft.

The video features the blogger dancing with the national flag in green and white shalwar kameez.

Unfortunately, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) didn't find the video entertaining and held PIA accountable for the incident. Eva was forced to delete it for 'hurting' sentiments and shared a video apologising for the dance, "I thought it would be a fun way to promote tourism in Pakistan," but she understood if it upset some people.

Pakistanis, however, are lauding Eva and supporting her dance, thanking her for showing a soft image of the country.

She was just showing her love for Pakistan ahead of independence day. There was nothing wrong even it was a positive image for the country. I was astonished to hear on TV that the national flag was disgraced. We should appreciate such people and events. Everything should not be taken as negative, there is already negative image of us in the world due to such thinking.

I think Chairman NAB has much more important issues to deal with rather than involving in such trivial matters. There was no disrespecting of the national flag. I personally found nothing objectionable in the video. We need to grow up and appreciate people from other countries trying to promote our image. Thank you Eva.

Excuse me all. With due respect, I am watching a #kikichallenge under that video! So don't you guys just be taken away by girl-doing-anything-with-our-flag" idea! Tomorrow, someone else will do something else in the name of the sacred flag of the country which was liberated by a multitude of sacrifices of lives and not by just dancing!

whoever is lauding this lady really need to check... if any one love pakistan or have some respect left would never do such things in public.its not funny but disrespecting for pakistanis all over the globe. NAB must find out who are the culprits law breakers in this episode must be severely punished not because this silly stunt how dare they compromise security of airplane and airport.Who gave her permission who took her to aircraft who made aircraft available for this stunt. its look in service air craft not dummy one every person who is involved in this security breach shoul be identified and punished for his wrongdoings in this case. This is Naya pakistan offenders will not be allowed to run away under the cover of joy love. Those who still think policies are still same must double check to confirm this is not the case in any more in pakistan in future.

I don't think she did anything wrong. It is tragic that people in authority focus on small events like this and ignore main issues facing Pakistan. As a Pakistani i would like to appologise to her and encourage her to keep promoting positive image of Pakistan.

It is not the NAB's job to prosecute 'disgracing of the National Flag'. The country cannot progress when state institutions do not do their own job and instead meddle in affairs that they have no legal authority to meddle into. There was nothing disgraceful about the video.

NAB should concentrate on matters of utmost importance - this goes to show how institutions cross their boundaries to poke into matters which they should not. I find NAB's actions disgrace to Pakistan and sure a tourist repellent. After so many years we have seen videos appearing on social media where foreign tourists (which are much needed to revive tourism) appreciating Pakistan and if we continue to act beyond our remit we will never be able to progress.

Disgracing the flag? How so? If so then why not arrest all youngsters wearing flag everywhere and dancing, and people throwing flags in trash on the 15th. This is crazy talk. We should be thanking her for promoting Pakistan instead.

@SRK "no other country will allow this to happen." Actually, virtually every other country in the world would allow this to happen. In the mid 90s, Geri Halliwell of the Spice Girls wore the UK national flag in the form of a dress - which is far more emphatic than what Zu Beck did. Was there an investigation by anti-corruption authorities? No. In fact the nation celebrated the iconic moment, and a new wave of love for the flag was born. I'm so sad to see how fragile some of us have become. Generations of censorship and religious hysteria have turned some of us into complete nervous wrecks. The Chand Sitara, just like the country it represents, is strong, beautiful, and resilient - let's see this as a tribute to it, rather than yet another "insult" to our "izzat". Hasan

It's the fault of the authorities who let an enthusiastic traveler do the dance with the respected flag. A common person can't just enter an airplane and walk or dance on the runway without having a valid permission. It's not the girl's fault as in many countries flag is not as highly respected as ours. Sadly, after watching the video its look like some Pakistanis don't share the same values.

@Hasan -- Very well said Hasan! It indeed appears to the case where generations of censorship and extremism has created this hysteria where an innocent little girl dancing to celebrate and show her love for the country is views as disrespecting, immoral, lack of etiquette, security threat blah, blah. blah. By the way no one wraps themselves in something they do not care for. So, the act of dancing with the flag and wrapping it around oneself is a show of affection. All you boring and dotards... Get a life!
