Did Mehwish Hayat just confirm a Benazir Bhutto biopic?

In an Instagram post, she hinted heavily at playing the role of Benazir Bhutto

Mehwish Hayat paid a tribute to Benazir Bhutto on what would have been her 65th birthday on Thursday but we sense there's much more to it.

In an Instagram post, Mehwish spoke about her admiration for the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan, while also strongly hinting at playing her for a movie. And when we say hinting we mean she's pointing at the answer saying "There it is!"

Says Mehwish in her post. “I am privileged to have been given the opportunity to research and learn more about her life and sitting here I can only reflect on so much more that could have been had she not lost her life so tragically.”

Rumours of a Benazir Bhutto biopic have been fluttering around for a while but there was never any confirmation as of yet. With Hayat saying she's researching on politician, it's all but confirmed.

Hayat goes on to add, "I look forward to giving life to her story soon."

Mehwish Hayat has previously voiced her eagerness to perform the role, saying it "Would be a privilege and honour to play her on screen and bring her wonderful journey, her inspirational story to the world!"

So, is she giving life to her story soon? We're thinking she just might have gotten her chance!

Update: BB's daughter, Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari has taken to Twitter to share that if such a flick is in the works, "certainly no consent from her living heirs/children was sought" adding "absolutely unacceptable and we will be taking action against it".

We hope she realises that nothing has been confirmed yet...

She is a good actress but she is too young to play this part. Kate Blanchet will be the best choice.

The legacy of BB is a one that is stoned in history now, besides being the first woman prime minister of the Islamic world, her courage and charisma has neen unmarched. Although I wish Miss Hayat all the best to be able to portray such a grandeur icon, I am a bit of skeptical too.

I hope it's a Pakistani production. We represent our own.
