Saheefa Jabbar has a message for families that see daughters as a burden
Saheefa Jabbar Khattak's next TV drama is all about women's empowerment.
The model has signed on to TV drama Beti opposite Fahad Mirza and tells Images that it's a story close to her heart.
"The drama talks about the type of families who think of daughters as a burden rather than a blessing," said Saheefa to Images.
Written by Sophia Khurram, Beti is directed by Mohsin Mirza and is an iDreams production.
About her character, Saheefa revealed, "I'm playing a young woman from a well-educated family. Her father passed away when she was quite young so she's been raised by her mother who is also a very strong woman."
"She falls in love with a guy whom she marries as well but his family is very different from hers. So the story is about her adjusting to very different norms than the ones she was raised in."
She added, "The guy's family are the type that doesn't want daughters. So it shows a process on how to handle such mindsets."
Javed Sheikh and Asma Abbas join the cast as Saheefa's in-laws.
"We've just started shooting soon and it's going be a good month or so before we're done. But I'm really hoping it goes well. I was enjoying working on the project since the moment I stepped on the set," said Saheefa.
Beti might be in the works but it's not all Saheefa is up to.
"I have two other projects in the loop," she shares.
Beti's launch date is yet to be announced.
