I don’t charge a fee for films, says Aamir Khan

The Bollywood star comments on whether actors should take pay cuts when their films do poorly in the box office

Considered one of the greatest talents of Bollywood, Aamir Khan has revealed that his earnings do not come from pay cheques. Instead, it appears he invests in the films he stars in.

At an annual media interaction held on his 53rd birthday, the Secret Superstar actor said, "Actually, I don’t charge a fee. It has been years since I have stopped charging a fee. If my film earns less, I earn less and if my film makes more money, I make more money."

Since Aamir's films have been doing phenomenally well in the international market, he explained why Dangal and Secret Superstar earned more revenue in China as compared to India.

"I think India has as big a potential as China. I just feel that China has done major investment in the entertainment industry and its administration is also supportive," he said.

"They have built up a lot of screens, and that is why the business has gone up. I think if we build many more theatres here in India, which is such a large country with a huge population, we will get the same kind of growth in the entertainment and film industry. So it is just the matter of building the infrastructure in India."

Aamir is currently shooting for Thugs of Hindostan in Jodhpur alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

Give them a break. They deserve the money they earn. Bollywood is tight with the cash. Johnny Depp has amassed a fortune of just over 3 billion dollars.

That would in effect make Aamir Khan a movie co-producer.

One has to be an aamir khan to take such a bold step; this man is always ahead of his fellow stars.

Jhoota. You take distribution rights of major area which earns you more. It is not that you only act in your films but there are several other actors in the film but you don’t allow them any cut in distribution rights. Same with most Bollywood superstars.

@anonymouseeee yeah,he shouldn't have compared,Bollywood actors earn way more than hollywood actors and Bollywood has replaced Hollywood in that elusive China market, comparison is needless
