8 looks we loved on the red carpet in 2017
As the old cliché goes - new year, new start.
That being said, before we dive headfirst into 2018, let's look back and reflect on the past year in the sartorial department.
2017 was the year of fast trends, red carpet fails and ramp musings. We saw everything from the demise of the off-shoulder to the rise of the power suit blazer to LOTS of Disney ball gowns. We've edited the very best from the biggest events of the whole wild year into this handy guide.
Here's some of our favourite celebs in our most coveted looks from the past 12 months.
Sunita Marshall at the Hum Style Awards 2017
Sunita Marshall is making a great case for lace saris in this little number.
The drop earrings and bangles kept the look traditional but the halter blouse and lace with silver detailing still made her look foxy.
Ayesha Omar at the Yalghaar premiere
The movie was forgettable but we remember how Ayesha Omar looked absolutely statuesque in a red Sadaf Malaterre number at the London premiere.
We could hardly keep our eyes off her; the old school waves and the red pout completed the look without overdoing the accessories.
Mahira Khan at the Lux Style Awards 2017
Mahira Khan stepped out of her usual princessy look with this slim-fitting dress with a sling sleeve and we're here for it!
While the dress itself is fairly simple (almost too simple), it's a new look for Mahira who usually favours girl-next-door looks. We're so glad she decided to embrace this femme fatale style!
Mikaal Zulfiqar at the Lux Style Awards 2017
A white tux is tricky to pull off but Mikaal Zulfiqar does it with aplomb, looking like a classy James Bond while he's at it!
Who said white was boring?
Sonya Hussayn at the Hum Style Awards 2017
Sonya Hussayn's deconstructed sari ensemble from Studio S was similarly intriguing.
The bold slashes of black on the sari could have overpowered Sonya, but paired with a simple blouse and unfussy hair the entire look worked. Oh and bonus points for those killer abs!
Armeena Khan at the Yalghaar premiere
We love the hair. The dress. The look.
Armeena Khan absolutely nailed this sari by Republic Womenswear and we can't help but feel she turned heads at the New York premiere in this ensemble.
Osman Khalid Butt at the Hum Style Awards 2017
An unexpected alternative to the good ol' suit, you don't have to be a rapper or a grandpa to rock one of these. Takes a bit more thought than your basic black/blue/grey suit but if you get it right, it's classic and bold all at once.
That being said, we think OB came out on top here; he didn't win Most Stylish Actor (Film) for nothing! The actor looked quirky but also quite dapper.
Ali Sethi at the Magnum Party 2017
We love that Ali Sethi always surprises us with his funky style. He brought his A-game to the red carpet rocking this sparkly Dolce & Gabbana jacket.
In case you're wondering where you've seen it before, he also wore it on Coke Studio, complete with a bow-tie and everything!
